Tuckerman Hall - 8 P. M.
Since winning the 2003 National Auditions for Astral Artistic Services, this young, Philadelphia based string trio from the Curtis Institute of Music has brought its heady mix of virtuosic bluegrass, Hungarian gypsy, jazz and even vamped-up Bach to major concert halls, TV, folk festivals and classical festivals throughout the U.S.
Time for Three is a group of spontaneous and intelligent musicians whose music fuses all styles and electrifies all audiences. In short, they are the future of American music. To date they have performed over two hundred engagements and have appeared as guest soloists with the Philadelphia Orchestra, which has commissioned composer Jennifer Higdon to create a work for the trio, at the Kennedy Center and other distinguished venues throughout the country.
“To hear these three young guys is to be thankful that music was invented… If I had been able to create a sound like these kids a few years back, I might have thought twice about going into acting!”
– Paul Newman
“Three benevolent monsters, monsters of ability and technique surely. But also of an infectious joy that I find both touching and moving. I would recommend them not only for entertainment value, but also for anyone looking to see how all types of American Music can develop, when life and passion such as this [are] breathed into it.
– Simon Rattle, Chief Conductor, Berlin Philharmonic
